Working Experience

Academia

At the University of Stuttgart, Germany, I have worked as Akademischer Rat, Postdoctoral Researcher (TV-L E13, 2016-2019), and Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers, 2017-2018). As Head of the division for Human Aspects of Software Engineering (HASE), I promote bright early career researchers in all fields of behavioral and human aspects of software engineering and its education.

At the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy, I have worked as lecturer, teaching assistant, data scientist (project People’s Republic of Bozen-Bolzano), and research assistant (with the SEMAT initiative). Most of these activities and projects while I was a doctoral researcher (2013-2016) there.

At the Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK, Trento, Italy) I have been an intern as researcher (with the Open Knowledge Foundation) and as software engineer (the Dycapo project).

I have also worked as editorial associate at the Journal of Open Research Software. This was a honorary position.

Industry

I have long worked as freelance web engineer for several customers (several projects with Matteo Moretti).

For The Winnower I volunteered as web engineer and academic counselor (DOI bridging in particular).

For about one year I collaborated as web developer for Bizetaweb (Bolzano-Bozen, Italy).

I have been a system administrator intern for Thun S.p.a. (Bolzano-Bozen, Italy).

I have co-authored several publications (peer reviewed, editorials, and working papers) with a plethora of smart people from all fields, in international conferences, workshops, and journals. My journal publications are not limited to software engineering venues, as I have also published in fields related to psychology (PeerJ Brain and cognition, SAGE Open), bibliometrics and journalology (Scientometrics, European Science Editing), design (Sciences du Design), and biomedicine (F1000R).
