how to have eclipse full screen support in os x lion. also for other apps like textmate, chrome and firefox

I really appreciate OS X Lion full screen feature. Unfortunately, this works just for Apple applications and for those that already use Apple’s API for enabling this functionality. But there’s already somebody that provided full screen support for all Cocoa applications! It’s Maximizer, a SIMBL plugin that allows us to push the full screen feature to any OS X Cocoa Applications. Quite all the modern programs for OS X are written using Cocoa.

Installation instructions:

  1. Quit all opened applications except a browser

  2. Download SIMBL and install it

  3. Download Maximizer

  4. Put the Maximizer.bundle file in /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins folder

Open an application to be tested. Et voilà!

It’s a pleasure to develop under Eclipse in Full Screen mode.
