What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We do not collect any personal data.

Our website is static. This means that the website consists of documents that your browser downloads. There is no further interaction, no server-generated content, no particular function offered other than serving static HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and picture files. There is no visitor-generated data at all. This simplicity allows us to limit the type of data we collect from you, none of which is personal.

Furthermore, we aim to never send any visitor information to any 3rd party service. Your data should stay within our servers. In case you notice third party servers used by our website, please assume it is unintended behavior and contact us. We will remove the relevant code as soon as possible.

To serve you the website, we use a reverse proxy (Caddy) and a Web server (nginx). Neither the reverse proxy nor the Web server store any access logs. This means that we do not even generate technical data related to you. We are not require to log this type of data, because the content is static. There is no user interaction at all besides reading the content.


We do not set cookies of any type.

None of the systems we use set any cookie of any type, not even our web analytics system (GoatCounter. See its GDPR compliance here.).

Embedded content from other websites

We may use content from 3rd party which might track you, for example a Youtube video. We try to never do this.

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.


Our analytics system is privacy-friendly, GDPR compliant, and it does not collect personal data.

We use a self-hosted (meaning that it lives in our servers) GoatCounter to handle our web analytics. Web analytics allow us to understand our users engagement with our site to understand where it delivers value, and where it can be improved in terms of usability, simplicity and speed. It also helps us to understand where our site visitors originate.

GoatCounter is open source software that is hosted on our own server infrastructure to ensure your privacy. GoatCounter is used to analyze in aggregate information about our website visitors.

When your web browser loads a page on our site, a small snippet of JavaScript code is executed within your browser which submits information such as (the rest of this section is copied from;

No personal information (such as IP address) is collected; a hash of the IP address, User-Agent, and a random number (“salt”) is kept in the process memory for 8 hours at the most to identify a browsing session.

The exception to this are requests which are deemed to be coming from a bot, in which case the IP address will be stored temporarily for the purpose of blocking botnets, hosting providers, and other types of abuse.

There is no information stored in the browser with e.g. cookies.

The contents of our website are backed up regularly in encrypted form to third party services, which are not able to access it. The contents of this website are static, so they do not have any data provided by you. We do not retain any identifiable data in any case.
